Let's talk about First Officers, There is a lot of public misconception about first officers and captains. I remember one time I was still a first officer having a drink with the captain I was flying with. We started talking with some people sitting next to us, and one of them asked: "So, which one of you is the pilot?" At first, I didn't understand what his meaning was. Howdy, In my last post, you saw some screenshots of our comic book. While the books are nearly complete, we will still make minor changes. More specifically, we are in the process of changing the font in the dialogue. Did you know most comic book studios have several people working on one comic book? Usually, one artist does the initial black-and-white sketch, the next person does the coloring, and another creates the word balloons and lettering. Then there is the story writer, scriptwriter, cover artist, and editor. A much smaller team is behind our comic books, and just about everything from cover to cover is done by one artist, including the word balloons and lettering. Here is a quick introduction to the World of FunkyPilot Academy, I gave a brief introduction to Comic Books in my previous post. This time I'm going to talk more specifically about FunkyPilot ACademy comic book series. FunkyPilot Academy takes place in Jetville, a fictional city somewhere in someplace. After realizing he can hear airplanes talking to him, our central character, Captain Jack Williams, loses his job. As a pilot with a passion for aviation, he can't stand staying home doing anything, so he opens a flight school in his garage and starts mentoring his neighborhood kids. 14-day Curfew in Hangzhou So, I have been stuck in my apartment for the last week or so. That’s because I live in Hangzhou, China, and there are some restrictions in place. I had a two-night trip from China to Cambodia recently. When I came back to Hangzhou, the gate guards at my apartment complex told me about the new restrictions. All this, of course, because of the coronavirus outbreak. I was told I should stay home for the next 14-days. They told me the 14-day rule is not a complete house arrest though, I could leave my apartment if I needed to leave the country, or if I had a work trip. Taking the Chinese Airline Transport Pilot Knowledge Test Every pilot who wants to fly a Chinese registered aircraft needs to have a pilot license issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC). Until last year I was flying with my CAAC Commercial Pilot License (CPL), but our company required me to get an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) in order for me to upgrade to a captain. I also talk about moving to different cities in China during my first year in the country. Flight Experience 8 - Challenger 605 Landing and Taxy in Hangzhou International Airport This two minute video shows a recent landing we had in Hangzhou in a Challenger 605 aircraft. Parts of the video are fast forwarded. After landing you can see the extremely long (fast forwarded) taxy to the other side of the airport!
